Overcoming Challenges in Cameroon

In the war-torn regions of Cameroon, where violence and conflict disrupt everyday life, Medicines for Humanity (MFH) stands as a beacon of hope. Despite the constant threats and life-threatening obstacles, our dedicated team and our devoted partners remain resolute in their mission to save the lives of children. Through unwavering commitment and by providing essential staff training, medicines, supplies, and equipment, we improve the capacities of clinics in these challenging environments.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are vital to our efforts, delivering healthcare services while facing daily risks of extortion and harassment. We support CHWs and internally displaced people (IDPs) through economic initiatives, empowering them and fostering resilient communities.

To navigate conflict zones, we introduced moto-ambulances. These motorcycles, equipped with iron carriers and driven by trained health workers, travel through forest trails and off-road paths, ensuring that pregnant women and children receive urgent medical care in places where vehicles are not permitted or unable to go.

Our CHWs often risk their lives to reach displaced families in the forest, providing essential care and health education. They refer IDPs to health facilities for additional support, including food and supplies. Equipped with delivery kits and special training, CHWs can also deliver babies when necessary.

Through innovative solutions and support, we are making a difference in the lives of countless children and families affected by conflict.
